StreetWorthy #5: The Adult Issue

What we're looking for: Articles, reviews, short stories, essays, comix, illustration, and more that offer perspectives on what "Adult" means to you: your first job, raise, firing, your first career move, your first move from home, from state, from country. Your first place all by yourself. Your first prescription, your first major shift in perspective. Your first orgy, your first child, gray hair, anal bleaching. The first time you're called sir or ma'am. Or something that's been going on for a while, 'cause being an adult is about new beginnings just as much as it is about being in the moment and acting accordingly.

We're also looking for resources, events, and other helpful info for the young and struggling.

Visual Artists Take Note: We will be using textile-like full-page images in this issue (think fabric, wallpaper, etc) and we could really use more material like this. Let us know if you'd like to go public with some repeating patterns and visual motifs!

A word on format: Each page will measure 5.5 X 8.5, and the format will be more minimalist and crisp. We're also looking forward to testing out some new binding techniques, so let us know if you're interested in teaching/learning with us.

Tell us what you wanna contribute by Friday, January 22 and we'll pencil you in!

Thanks!

StreetWorthy goes APE!*

For all you 'Worthy fans who missed out on last August's SF Zine Fest, stop by our booth at this year's Alternative Press Expo! We'll be holding down a half table there come Octover 17-18, 2009. Come get your zines, t-shirts, buttons, bookmarks, and sense of well-being! This event is HUGE and attracts artists and publishers far and wide. A host of talented and innovative alternative press movers and shakers will be exhibiting their work, speaking, giving workshops, and getting to know you. Located at the expansive Concourse Exhibition Center, this event is a rare opportunity to meet your favorite and soon-to-be-favorite artists, writers, and crafters face-to-face, with nothing but a folding table between you. With admission at $10 each day, it really is a steal considering the scope of exhibitors there. It'll be our first time at this particular rodeo, so stop by and say hi!
